Costs:
Ice Sessions = most cost $20 per session.
Private Rentals = $300 an hour.
We try to accommodate most private rental requests. Visit our schedule page to see what is currently booked. If you see a time that might interest you, please use the contact sheet on the homepage to reach out.
Do you only host hockey?
Yes – the rink and ice are designed specifically for hockey.
What is 3 v 3?
3-on-3 style of play is a fast-paced format for smaller ice surfaces where the neutral zone has been eliminated. There are no refs, checking, and there is limited stop of play. Many players enjoy playing smaller sheets for the high puck contact and quicker play.
Do you offer open skate?
No, we do not offer public skating or skate rentals. Any announced public skating will be strictly a BYOS (bring your own skates) policy.
Do you offer Learn to Skate?
No, but we are partnered with Richmond Ice Zone and SkateNation Plus who do offer Learn to Skate programs. More info can be found here: https://rvaskating.com/
Do you offer intro to hockey programs?
We work closely with the other rinks in town to help offer the Washington Capitals Learn-to-Play program and HockeyU. Please let us know via our Contact form if you need help getting into hockey.
Do you offer adult beginner hockey clinics?
Yes! We have just launched our own Adult Development Clinic that is offered throughout our operating months. This 6-8 week program is designed for beginners or returning skaters. The clinic will help you ease in or back in to the hockey world. More info can be found on our schedule page. Just look for Adult Development Clinic for dates and cost.
Do you run your own youth league?
Powhatan Ice Den offers 6U hockey via our Polar Mites team. This team is designed for youth players who have completed Learn-to-Play and ready to for rec league hockey with players their own size and age.
We also offer an 8U Girls team - The Little Mischief. This team is designed for all girls 8 and under with a few travel dates built in throughout the season. It's a great way to ease in to hockey or double up and play on a house league team and an all girls team.

DO YOU OFFER ADULT LEAGUE?
The Adult League in Richmond is called Hockey Nights in Richmond (HNIR). These games are not played at Powhatan Ice Den.
Powhatan Ice Den hosts adult 3v3 tournaments throughout the season. We follow an A, B, C, and D style of divisions. Tournament info can be found on our Activities page or on our Social Media Pages.

Do you offer Birthday Parties?
No – we are not equipped or staffed to host birthday parties. You are welcome to book a private rental for group hockey events, but we do not offer skate rentals.
